Text-chat Friendship

Sometimes meeting a new person for the first is scary. "What will I say? What will THEY say? What if I sound stupid or boring? What if they're rude or they don't like me? What about rejection?" These are some of the thoughts that I have when meeting people for the first . Due to my career in social work I was always meeting new people and, even though I was accustomed to it, I always felt anxious during first encounters. This text option will allow us to challenge anxiety while becoming comfortable with each other. Or, if you just prefer text to voice or video, that's ok too!

Video Friends

Except for in-person, video conversations may feel the most vulnerable. Keep in mind, healthy friendships are about acceptance. Accepting yourself and others for who you are. A true friend will have this outlook. Trying to change the other person or criticizing who they are is NOT allowed! Instead, adding positivity into each other's life is the goal. As with anything else this takes practice. I often quote, "Practice makes PROGRESS!" Through video calls, we will develop the skills of confidence, healthy self-esteem, acceptance, positive thinking/self-talk, and re-framing. See you soon!
